Resins are among nature's most potent raw materials. They are the substance that heals and protects tree wounds, making them incredibly aromatic and powerful. By inhaling their scent, you can feel the strength of the resin and its essential oils.

Why Resins Are So Effective:

  • Antibacterial Properties: Resins have strong antibacterial qualities.

  • Immune Support: They bolster the immune system.

  • Respiratory Relief: They help open the airways and alleviate coughs, colds, bronchitis, and asthma.

  • Circulatory Benefits: They stimulate blood flow, which can relieve sore muscles.

  • Skin Healing: They support skin renewal and healing from wounds and cuts.

  • Traditional Uses: Myrrh and frankincense have been used for oral health and cavity protection.

Energetic and Aromatherapy Benefits:

  • Grounding and Calming: They provide a sense of grounding, security, and protection.

  • Spiritual Use: Historically, resins like myrrh and frankincense were used in temples and spiritual practices to enhance spiritual elevation.

Harvesting Resins:

  • Resin Collection: Pine resin is commonly found in many parts of the world and is relatively easy to collect. It’s crucial to gather only the resin that is no longer vital to the tree, avoiding fresh resin and collecting hardened pieces.

  • Tools and Method: Use a gentle knife and collect resin directly into a jar. To remove resin from your hands, use an oil that effectively dissolves its stickiness.

Making a Resin Infusion in Oil:

Ingredients:

  • A generous amount of resin (enough to fill half a small jar)

  • Olive oil (or other oil of your choice)

  • Vitamin E (optional, for preservation)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Resin:

  • Crush the resin using a mortar and pestle.

  1. Infuse the Oil:

  • Fill a jar with resin and cover it with twice the amount of oil (e.g., if using 50g resin, cover with 100ml oil).

  • Place the jar in a pot of water. When the water boils, reduce the heat. Use a spoon to break and crush the resin pieces as much as possible.

  1. Heat the Mixture:

  • Heat for at least 1 hour, up to 4 hours. Ensure the jar is sealed to prevent water from entering.

  1. Strain and Store:

  • Strain the mixture through a cheesecloth into a clean jar. Any sediment will settle at the bottom; avoid including this when using the oil.

  • Add a small amount of Vitamin E (about 5ml per cup of oil) to preserve the oil.

Uses:

  • For Colds and Coughs: Massage onto the chest and back.

  • For Pain Relief: Apply to sore joints and muscles.

  • For Wound Healing: Use as a topical antiseptic to speed up healing and skin renewal.

Shelf Life:

  • The oil will remain effective for at least a year.

This oil can be turned into a balm with beeswax (15 grams for 125 ml) or used as-is. With its powerful healing properties, it's truly a wonder.

Give it a try and see if it works for you!
